Bristol University Physics building
Rowland Stonemasonry Ltd.
Rowland Stonemasonry were contracted to undertake some much needed cleaning and restoration work to Brisol University's Physics building. This building is a beautiful example of architecture and highly skilled stone craftsmanship.  Only when one ascends the 10 floors of scaffolding can one appreciate the integrity of the sculpture and shapes carved into the stone.  It was an incredibe shame that the building had long been left in this delapidated appearance holding back the beauty of the architecture.

From the pictures you can see the original state of the majestic stone head carvings when we arrived.  On the left you can see the dramatic improvement from our cleaning techniques.  We took our time on this project as you cannot rush when working with certain stones as you can "Burn" the stone without the correct knowledge. The process sensitively removed the thick layers of black carbon deposits to restore the original finess of the stone carvings.
